I actually had a pretty good time, even with the crap weather and over crowding.. could have been so much better if it had stayed dry though.. and they had all the 'attractions' on the flyer

Musically it was one of the best raves I went too, but the rain was too much
I walked home with my sister it was so close

I still have the big canvas XL backdrop
Also I have a load of cuttings from our local gazette I will have to scan
Some funny shit in there, the locals going mad about the MC's, the music & the ravers

Such a shame there were no recordings of this event.

I went to the second one, Return of the Warehouse Concept in Wisbech. It was amazing, 10k people in a monster warehouse. Like the first one the raving wonderland that was promised on the flyer didn't quite materialise but this time they delivered on all the important stuff, it was a great venue for a chilly February night and the sound was stupidly loud! Got in soo much trouble with my folks when I got home, I was only 15 haha :D

I have searched to find some footage of that night but have never found anything, I had one of those huge 90s video cameras pointed at me at one point in the night so it was definitely filmed. Got most of the sets though, Top Buzz destroyed the place. They played this which is pretty crazy considering it had just turned 1993. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pDMn1ZfVzE

I remember having the flyer for this on my bedroom wall - i really wanted to go. Given the monsoon conditions i'm glad i didn't. Thats a long way back to Essex!!!
As raves go, was this the pinnacle of 'misrepresentation' of attractions?
'Blade Runner' sets and a Roman Temple???? It sounded awesome on the flyer of course.....

Hi,

This was just bad luck with the weather, the actual event itself was pretty damn good. As others have said, musically it was top notch.

Well tbh the weather was awful.. but I did not remotely give a shit about that.

But - with that in mind - it was massively overcrowded. I thought the sound systems sounded atrocious & weren't remotely helped by noisy fairground mc's (I'm really not a fan!).

I also had not been to a big commercial event like that before either. I was hugely disappointed. I mean I really can't remember the details now but seem to remember water being £2/bottle.. and I guess that wasn't like a Spiral party or similar ;) The atmosphere was not remotely what I was used to either. It all seemed a bit false to me at the time. Looking back, maybe I had my free-party-anti-capitalism-when-it-suits boots on that weekend?! :D

I think we stayed to watch The Prodigy (the only highlight tbh & that was purely to do with some crustie dancing on his own in a mud pit - totally having it!!! Was better than Keith ;)

Oh - and then we got stuck there in my car -> Austin Metro = nuff said :( Loads of nice people trying to jump us tbh.. but only the RAC man and his 'bigger' battery got us going at about 2pm later that day.

I gotta say I saw loads of people physically getting carried out of the venue with a mate carrying each limb. More carnage than I ever saw at any free party.

It just felt dark.... My first & last commercial rave.

Didnt thousands of people get in without tickets? Just rushing the gates / weak fences etc.

Had one of the best ever rave flyers if nothing else!
