It's had a remix!

Post by DJ ABO » Wed Mar 26, 2014 9:15 am

Which were your favourites, worst etc?

The Slammer Remixes - It's good that Fitzy & Nookie took a different approach on their remixes but they've never really blown me away. SB Should have had a double pack of remixes for such a huge tune IMO.

Tango-Impact Remixes, 2 Bad Mice Remix of Music Takes you and DJ Diplomat's remix of Dub War have got to be a few of my favourites.

One I absolutely hate is DJ Hype's remix of Manic Stampede. He somehow manages to remove all of the energy and rawness from the track. So much potential there, shame as I love most of his other tracks.

I'm also not a massive fan of Nookie - Give a Little Love 94, it just sounds too fast so if I do play it it's at a very low pitch. The original is much better.

I think I'm one of the few people that prefer the original. It's not as good a dancefloor track as the remix, but I prefer the flow of it. Maybe a mash up of the two would be good, the structure of the original but with the crowd noise/samples from the remix.

The Criminal Minds remix of D'Cruze World within a World!

Love it to the bone.

Although I just played the original as not heard for years and it is pretty decent.

Still can't touch the Remix IMO.

Perfection, I think so

And I love the original
Agreed - everything a remix should be. Sounds like the original but stands alone as its own track. Same goes for the 'Phuture Sound' remix.

I like the Origin Unknown remix of 'Dead Dred' for the same reason.

I dislike remixes that are just the original with a lazily re-arranged breakbeat or re-arranged stab pattern/hook that sounds like someone blindly bashing a keyboard.....

Wow, so many great remixes... a few random ones that spring to mind.

Lord of the Null Lines: Original is amazing. Foul Play is something completely different and equally great!

Frank De Wulf and Beltram remixes of Dominator.

Frank De Wulf remix of Kinetic Golden Girls. (Pretty much anything by Frank)

Pennywise: All mixes offer something new and are great.

Unknown & Temptation: Feel It Hyper On Experience Remix. This is just bliss and way better than the original mixes.

Slipmatt remix of Oaysis Awakening. Just wicked, similar quality to the SMDs in terms of dancefloor destruction.

Q-Bass Deepa, NRG Remix. This was big on London pirate radio in 1993!

Disappointing:

The Nookie remix of In Complete Darkness. With his skills, you'd hope for something a bit more here.

The Beltram remix of Messiah's There Is No Law. How could this go so wrong?

The various remixes of Drowning in her from 4 Horsemen.

Top Buzz remix of Prodigy's Weather Experience. A missed opportunity.

Music Takes You (2 Bad Mice Mix) - one of the best hardcore tracks ever.

So much better than the original.

I prefer the 94 mix, but slowed down to the original speed - more or less the same as the original (ie - 2 notes lower), but slightly different arrangements later on :)

Lennie De Ice - We Are IE (Hypercrew Mix).
This is basically half the original mix which then turns into the remix half way through - and of course, recorded at a faster speed. Love it!

Manix - Hardcore Junglism (Remix)

Manix - Special Request (Hero Mix)

2bm - Future Sound (Remix)

Prodigy - Everybody In The Place (155 and Rising)

Magi & Emanation - Everybody Say Love (Prodigy Remix)

DJ Hype - Shot In The Dark (Q-Bass Remix) - like the original but more going on & a bit more mental :)

Tango - Can't Stop The Rush (93 Remix)

Ray Keith - News at 10 (Wackard Remix)

Rhythm For Reasons - The Grand National (Tango Remix)

John + Julie - Circles (G.T.O's Europa Remix)

Rachel Wallace - I Feel This Way (Remix)

DJ Taktix - The Way (VIP Mix - Clear Vinyl)

Mystical Units - Positively Evil (Remix)

The Moog - Rush Hour (Rotor Remix)

.. That'll do for now :)

Really? one of my faves this & it always in my record bag
The original is one of my least favorite Prodigy records

But JonSST decided to ruin it for me the weekend & say the piano sounds like the Emmerdale farm theme tune hahahaha #-o
Conversley i think the original of Weather Experience is one of best Prodigy tunes. The remix is a bit dull really: Although i can see how it would be ok in the mix as a transition tune maybe.....

I was in Jay's (Fat Controller) shop when he turned up from Nookie's with the DAT of the remix, he played it in the shop and I thought hmmmm so much potential missed! :(

Agree with Beltram mix of Dominator. Amazing.
Also Seduction mix of Touch Somebody, is a blinder.
