** Youtube Channel Owners Important **

Youtube channel guys

As some of you may or may not know Hardcore Junglism is launching at midnight tomorrow. We are an online store that specializes in old skool hardcore, Jungle and DNB

We have exclusive rights to social media streaming on the majority of content that will be sold on our site. We will be using Youtube to host clips of our content and to build a good solid database on Youtube of proper licensed legal old skool videos for everyone to enjoy.

This raises the issue of Youtube channels who are already showing this content.

The initial plan was to use the Youtube copyright removal tool to remove videos that match our content (Just single tracks – Mixes will not be affected)

However, after talking to Pete from Blog To The Old Skool, he has raised the point that this will undoubtedly cause A LOT of good channels to be deleted due to multiple copyright violations.

So, to avoid this issue happening, I have spoken to the other partners in Hardcore Junglism and it has been agreed that I can post this message up to give everyone a heads up and thus giving Youtube channel owners time to remove any content that is going to cause issues.

If you are a Youtube channel who would like to avoid any problems with copyright strikes on content that we will be removing then PLEASE GET IN TOUCH. I will send you a list of artists and labels that we will be removing from midnight on Sunday (03/03/14) so that you can remove these artists and labels from your pages.

You can email me at labels@hardcorejunglism.com with the subject “Youtube” to request a list and I will get back to you ASAP.

If you can include a link to your channel in the message I will then add you to a list so when we add content in the future I can email you and let you know of any new additions that we will be doing Youtube take downs for so that you will always get a heads up on any activity we are doing on Youtube in the future

Please bear in mind that this is a whole lot of extra work I have just dumped on myself so please only email me if you are wanting to remove content from your channel – I have a ton of other things to do for the site over the next 2 days so do not have time to respond to messages so will just be copy and pasting a list in replies.

I have had to push pretty hard to be able to do this as we are trying to keep some surprises for launch so do not want the label and artist list being made public before we go live on Sunday night.

If you email us please bear in mind the list is confidential and is not to be made public.

Any channels still hosting content that we hold contracts for after midnight on Sunday will result in copyright strikes so please do get in touch.

This is not something that is open for debate as like I mentioned I have had to fight hard to be even able to post this message up, your help and co-operation is much appreciated.

Big up

Just curious... I don't have a channel or anything, but know people (genuine scene enthusiasts) that do.

Do you have proof of all this exclusivity?

We have signed contracts from all rights holders regarding this

I have permission from artists that you claim to have exclusively on your books, so how will that work?
Im sorry but Im not closing my channel to suit your site.
To me it simply screams that you want to remove all competition so people buy from you rather than listen to them on youtube.
I also don't understand why such big artists and labels would sign to what is basically a new and unknown site.
Ive also contacted one of the artists and he said you have no right to claim all online streaming rights, so are you getting a bit carried away here?

Unfortunately, not everyone is on here who has a youtube channel. I have put a message up on FB for people to pass on, but I feel this is going to p1ss a lot of people off if they have their channels removed due to not seeing this, especially as I'd say 99% of them have put tunes up for the love of them for other people to hear / get IDs.

I know my channel has huge support, and if it gets shut thats one hell of a chunk of potential customers that would boycott it. And believe me, Ill make sure they know why it was shut and because of which site.

As a side note, (and I don't support piracy, which is why I don't upload HD quality tunes even though I get plenty of requests for them) its not hard to find all the old tunes online for free anyway as 320k, wav or lossless if you know where to look. I know of big communities that share the tunes, including tons of unreleased stuff

I've pulled all the videos from my channel that I don't hold the rights to already, can't be fucked with the grief this will cause.

I sure as shit have never made a penny from my channel to the best of my knowledge, and as dest alluded to, all our channels have ever existed for to help people ID tunes from the distant past that producers/rights holders had probably long forgotten about until the chance to make a quick buck materialised (not that I have any fundamental issue with artists making money from their work, of course).

Anyway, selling MP3's/WAV's or whatever of old skool stuff, unreleased or otherwise, is doomed to failure for myriad reasons, so best of British luck with it.

Everyone is for and supports the scene expanding, but to try and monopolise on it and you will fall flat on your face.
You're trying to sell to expert collectors and very knowledgeable people, the audience is not full of idiots who just like to click buy on iTunes.

If this new operation spells disaster for all the ESTABLISHED sites/channels by throwing copyright waffle / threats about then I'm out.

Buy all means sell the wares you're licensed to. Just leave channels /sites that don't even have a download option alone.

Me too. Ive already decided I won't be supporting it. Even if exclusive tunes appear on there, trust me I will get them from elsewhere 100% guaranteed.

.
Agree, if they start getting stuff pulled from youtube people will start to get pissed off and it won't do the site any favours at all.

Ok - after a few google searches on 'youtube earnings' - looks like you earn from ads and channel views (so if people browsing 1 channel clicking on links, that's how you earn rather than individual searches) - although, based on what I've found (no idea how true it is) - for a 1000 views, you might be getting a few quid. Times that by say a few hundred videos, you might be looking at a grand or a touch more.

So for less than an average months salary, you could p1ss 100s of possible customers off - not the best business decision ....

Such a shame as you've put a lot of work & effort into this.
Whose-ever idea this was, I'd have a word as it will not do your site any favours.

A better idea, rather than threaten people with getting the vids removed would be to politely ask them if they wouldn't mind putting a link to your site on their channel.

Then you win (free advertising) and they win as they can still have whatever tunes they want on their channel.

This will backfire on you massively if you go down the route you plan to.
