Tape Crackers

Post by dj_yt » Sat Sep 17, 2011 9:26 am

I bought the tape crackers DVD the other day. If you haven't heard of the film, a review from the Guardian is here:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/se ... rave-tapes

Overall, it's a simple but great documentary which consists of Mark running through his favourite pirate radio tapes from the mid 90s and obsessing about tapes with screws in the corners (he favours these for repair purposes).

Some on here may scoff at his lack of tune knowledge (the first track he plays for example is The Journey by Ramos & Supreme, so relatively well known) - but his love of the pirate buzz and enthusiasm for the scene is quite infectious. He selects some compelling examples of MCing from a variety of London stations.

It was definitely a nostalgic blast back to the days of taping the radio in my bedroom as a teenager and worth checking out.

Edit: Just noticed the other thread on this. Mods, feel free to combine :)
