gurning at Doncaster Warehouse

Post by andrew » Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:37 pm

I never went to the Doncaster Warehouse, but noticed this video on blogtotheoldskool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bM3xf87CbIQ

Skip to 02:08 or so for the best of the gurning. This video has made my week! Everything about it is just wonderful and the bloke in question is a true rave hero in my book.

Amazing! That guy is quite clearly having the time of his life :) Sad to say I bet that he is now 40 odd, hasn't listened to dance music since 1993 and has no idea of that videos existence.

Jedi - exactly, he's having the time of his life and that's why I love the video so much. I think he is aware of it! A quick delve through the comments reveals some lovely stuff:

"@bunard1 , hi , im the focus of madness, with the gun fingers, crazy days, regards nigel"

And later in response to a question asking if he still gets in states like that now:

"@bunard1 no not at all, 1993 was my last year, i became a father very shortly after, allways worked didnt just go raving,my eldest is 18 now ! she loves the video and cant believe thats her dad, i run my own garage/mot bus and a hotel and restuarant.. thesteerinn.co.uk, check it out and believe me thoses days didnt harm me at all,,,and i took the pitbulls in large amounts and anything else, was allways a big act to me !!! id go again thats for sure mate! regards nigel"

Thumpson - yeah Mr Creepy Eyes, fucking hell. He's just standing there rubbing his hands together and manically darting his gaze around from person to person. I diagnose an overdose of amphetamines...

What a hero. He looks like he's trying to eat his own face.
If someone behaved like that in a club thesedays everyone would look at them like they're a freak, then security would throw him out.

haha that was quality, seriously good times back then. My next door neighbour is in her late forties, and I always find it amusing when she hears an old hardcore track coming from one of our windows. It's like that person who is a mum, as normal as you like, has just turned back into a teenager in a split second.

yeah ol' creepy eyes is the shit. Would love to find out how he's doing?

What happened to ropey old amphet sulphate from bitd. It sort of seemed to disappear and be replaced by stronger base. I think it's a really little spoken about aspect of the scene. Horrible stuff of course (do you remember the taste??) but it played its part.
