Got one second hand around beginning of 1994 I think, then another brand new one once I started working and had a couple of pay packets in mid 1995. I can't tell the two apart by looking (well I can, the second hand one had bare wires for the earth).

Had my 1200's since 1996 from new, both still in perfect working order.

If they ever give up the ghost, I will cry like a girl.

I got my "current" 1200's brand new for my 18th birthday in 1999. They still work and look as good as new, although I sold them recently because I never used them and somebody I live with has a set anyway. Apart from the obvious like needles, I replaced the pitch sliders and LED lights once.

Before that I had a pair of 1210's that had been in the main room of a club for 5 years (The Manor in Ringwood) and had lots of stories to tell and battle scars :) They were knackered but they certainly had character...

First pair I had was 1200 in 88 as I was mixing into freestyle mixing, hip hop breakbeats etc, had them till 95 and sold them due to financial obligations. Bought another pair in 99, sold them in about 2003 then bought the same pair back ( off a mate who I originally sold them to) a year later, then I sold one back to him in about 2005/6 as I found I was using them less and less and only needed them for ripping as I thought I'd be purely digital from that point on. As some may know im still active and deep into my house music and started playing out again in 2007 and bought a brand new pair of mk5. I'm know toying with the idea of trying to get some 1200's seeing as technics have discontinued a piece of dj ing history !

1200's are the original retrobad boys !

Any one wanna buy some mk5's lol

'93 for me.... fine use of my student loan! :D

however, i actually replaced them last year as got offered a set of mk5's for £200 (practically unused too). i did feel kinda reluctant to get rid of my old ones as they had a lot of pineappletribe party history about them... but went for the new shiny ones with the dipless pitch!

aside from counterstrike, i'd say that my 1210's are probably my best buy ever -> in terms of use -vs- cost..... :D :D :D

Had mine since 1992 but demoted them to parties only last year and replaced them with a pair of mk5g's. Never had any problems with them apart from bulbs and needles.
I've just bought a brand new pair of 1210's and put them away in storage ready for ebay in 10 years time! I paid 579 each for my mk5gs and they're being sold brand new for £1,000 now they've been discontinued ;-)

had mine for nearly 3 years...it was second hand though so not sure how old it really is.

by contrast, i had numark ttx-1s which broke after about a year - well, after about 6 months one of the turntables kept turning itself off, and then after a few months of that, the other one died. and although i got that second hand, it had only actually been used a couple of years before that.

shame really cos i much preferred the ttx-1s as actual turntables. but even from that point of view i can't argue with the technics build quality!
