Joey Beltram did a few dark electroey beats tracks early on his career. Track down copies of both records on this label http://www.discogs.com/label/Allabi+Records

And this LP is the nuts too http://www.discogs.com/release/42156

i had this release in my record box for at least 5 years after it came out, as you could play it on the wrong speed with darkside hardcore
i still play it loads, it's what this music is all about IMO

Another mix....

Shame first power domination dub isn't on youtube, that's just as badass

Stuff like the early vinyl solution's, depth charge & subject 13... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8y6MlCEhqs are on this tip too
There's shitloads of dark breakbeat tunes in 89/90/91
Yeah they're not bad, but not as gritty or evil sounding as that other one.

I did also find a clip of that domination dub tune on here - presuming it's not a remix or anything :

http://www.audiojelly.com/index.cfm?act ... ?id=114217

Really think we need to get some more of this sort of stuff made - maybe not quite at that slow tempo, but around the 140bpm-ish mark.
As much as I like hcb, I keep finding myself drawn back to the older sounding tunes & would love to hear some more tunes in that sort of style. Maybe it's just me getting old

@ Elusive ref DA JUICE - HEAR THE ANGELS

Yeah, that's a pretty decent one ;)

@ Nebkins - will try to find some clips. Cheers :)

as Nebkins said, there's quality dark 1990 stuff from beltram on allabi..
Technical onslaught is one of his best releases, proper 1990 darkness. Highly recommended.

also:

easymo - cut & run ep, i think that this 4 tracker is what you look for RG

open mind - the trance, another early Beltram work, again similar to mental mayhem , even darker imo

4 slots for bill - focus, fast, rough and dark, early Luke Slater

dilemma - erase your mind - imo, one of the hardest 1990 tunes there

how & little - defcon 5 ep - 1990 techno & house at its best, i also recommend anything on the City Limits label, all about NY quality techno and acid on it

do you know this one ? - One tribe - Get Hype, another mad 1990 tune

.. that would do

there's proper dark stuff from even earlier

suburban knight - the groove from 87, bit slow but still very good

l.b. bad - true history of house music (body mechanix instrumental) from 89

Not heard those, but anything earlier than 88 I find I don't like the sound of the beats - probably the machines they used back then - Found that with a lot of stuff I've listened to lately. 89 is probably my limit.

yes, compared to any proper hardcore tunes, late 80's stuff sounds dull most times. Still, there's more than fast tempo for a harsh, dark atmosphere ..

the groove, here it is. http://www.sendspace.com/file/ihnm01

it would probably not appeal to many people. like you said, production is very old ..

I think a lot of the 1990 bleep stuff on Warp or Outer Rhythm is pretty dark. Then of course there's Suburban Knight's 'Art of Stalking'.

There was some quality dark acid house too. 'I've lost Control' by Sleazy D springs to mind (1986!).

Found that art of stalking one on youtube. Didn't really do a lot for me I'm afraid :( Can't find a clip of the 86 one, but if it's really slow I prob won't like it.

@ Surgery - cheers for the mp3 :) Can see what u mean - it is really slow. Would like a few more bits going on as well - damn my fussy ears

Still got loads to check out when I get some spare time at home - cheers for all the track names to investigate :)

Here you are. it probably is too slow for you, but it's acid house, so hey. Worth a listen though, just for the vocals and bassline:
