Re: Oldskool DJ's that get overlooked, but...

in fairness though basic rave mixing isn't really a skill with that many levels to it. maybe the really early house DJs you could say that for, more because the music wasn't designed for it. but even by the early 90s there were definitely other DJs who could beatmatch pretty flawlessly. and plenty m...

How on earth do you DJ/mix for 25 years odd and STILL not have a single defining year where you were on-point/untouchable or just not be able to match two pieces of music tightly?

Re: Oldskool DJ's that get overlooked, but...

i think SS did pretty well to have got where he is. most of the sets I've heard of his have been pretty shocking mixing wise. to the point it's distracting. i'm sure he got better but i haven't heard any of him post 94/95...

Re: What anthems weren't that big bitd?

i guess any tune which was really commercially popular, at the time would be avoided in raves but now time has passed wouldn't have the same stigma.

so maybe some Prodigy? Like Outer Space? I've heard the B sides on tapes but not that one.

I do hate the idea of "guilty pleasures" though. You have them! Come let us know one of yours. I've NEVER hidden the fact I like Take That! :) oh i like loads of stuff that would be guilty pleasures to other people. i just mean that i'm not ashamed of it, so they're not really "guilty" pleasures! i...

Re: 100% cheese....

*Paging Traffic Cone and his Scottish Bouncy Techno to the thread* haha i mean a good portion of what i listen to is cheese. of varying strengths :D but i wasn't going to post any happy hardcore, that's a whole separate kettle of cheese. I'm interested to hear some proper oldskool breakbeat with ad...

Re: Big bad bass

This tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTysF8LkS7Q played at a Life4Land party somewhere in Hackney a few years back. I mean really it was a lot of what they were playing, super loud modern jungle with lots of sub bass but that tune in particular stands out, I remember it feeling like I was bein...

that does depend on the country though. for example, most Dutch sellers charge the same price for 8 or 9 records as 1 (it's about 9 euros for 0 to 2 kg).

Re: currency exchange affecting sales

it's worked the other way around for me: most of my Discogs sales are UK anyway, but a lot of my Discogs purchases are from sellers in the Eurozone. So it's made that a bit cheaper :) I tend to go for Dutch & German sellers, they have the cheapest postage. Annoyingly a lot of stuff I like now is sol...
