Urban Jungle - Back in the Days

Hello all Apologies if this has been posted before but I was searching YouTube for Urban Jungle - Back In The Days recently... it's one of those forgotten classics in my opinion. Anyway, given Mark Ryder's attitude to copyright issues I thought it was amusing to see this comment, ostensibly from the...

Re: Mega City 2

i remember John Peel playing this, one of the first hardcore tunes i ever heard...and saying it was his favourite tune of 1996  That's funny - I remember that bloke off of Match of the Day 2 - Colin Murray? - playing Hold Me Now on the radio a few years ago and rewinding it half way through. H...

Re: Mega City 2

DJ Kaos's finest moment (not counting Mega City 2) Cheesy as your mum's pants but i have a soft spot for SOME of this type of nonsense. Also engineered by Brad Carter of Sy-Kick fame (as were most happy tunes around this time)! If you can't bear to listen to it all just check that piano @ 2.12. I g...

In Effect - the Slipmatt remix is much better than Slammer & Red Alert's original.

The one I really love that hasn't been mentioned yet is that Ham & D remix of Alk-E-D - Selecta. I also have a massive soft spot for I Want To Be Forever and Runaway...

Re: Afraid of flying ?

I don't like it at all - it's a crippling fear of the fuselage suddenly ripping open or some other catastrophe, exacerbated by the intense claustrophobia (admittedly this isn't as bad on long haul flights) and the hassle of airports themselves. I'll ony do it if I absolutely have to; for holidays th...

Re: The Rhythm Station Aldershot

I never went to the Rhythm Station but that footage is the best example of a mid-90s happy rave I have seen. The crowd certainly seems to respond well to Burn Mutha Fukka on GBT (video 3)!

Thanks for posting this up, I really enjoyed it. Top stuff.

Yeah I started riding to work (most days) last August; generally cover about fifty miles per week. I highly recommend it!

Re: I'd buy that for a dollar.....

My favourite line from that film (and quite possibly from any film) is:

"Hey Robo, excuse me... Robo! Any special message for all the kids watching at home?"

"Stay out of trouble."

Re: Whilst were on a 'did you go here' topic

I went to the one at the Fridge and the second birthday at the Gardening Club 2 of all places, both late '95. The security were supposed to have been arseholes at the second birthday gig but I got there before the crowd built up and didn't notice. Swifflee opened his set with Nookie's The Sound Of M...

Film about the Labrynth

I went to the BFI Southbank recently to see a screening of Legacy In The Dust, an independent film about the history of The Four Aces Club on Dalston Lane E8 - better known to us of course as Labrynth. Absolutely fascinating piece of social history and the second half (footage of Labs nights and int...

Re: most consistent dj's ?

I've never heard Sy play a bad set. Also, as a Labrynth old boy I would say Jimmy J. He never tried anything particularly flash but always got the basics right and his tune selection was spot on.
