Re: FACT Mag Top 20 Happy Hardcore Records, err....

Yeah, that guy knows fuck all. I had to be a pedant and post a message correcting some of his more obvious errors. If he thinks Kniteforce is an American label he obviously only got into it within the last couple of years. A lot of the tunes are from 1992, which I think is stretching it a bit to cal...

Re: Which DJ's just fell off the map completely?

It was kinda blackmail though, because HTID allegedly said that if he didn't give them permission to have his tunes on the CD packs they wouldn't book him. He told them to do one and has only started playing for them again quite recently. Shaggy & Breeze Pigbag Donovan "Bad Boy Smith" Simon "Basslin...

Re: Rave books

I suppose the reason for the lack of focus on 1990-94 is for the lack of a good story to frame it around. books on the 87-89 era have the illegal parties, new music, new drugs etc. The 94 jungle story has it framed as Britain's first real dance music, black British music coming to the forefront etc....

Stu Allan

What are everyone's view of him? Maybe not one for the southern peeps but I've always liked if (if not some of the tunes he made). All round nice guy and forgotten pioneer of House music in the UK. Check this great interview with him on his early career prior to and including the house scene http://...

Rave books

Do you think that the market for books on the history of rave has been done? I'm seriously contemplating having a bash at writing one, getting all the useless knowledge in my head down on paper (or on the screen) and not stopping until i'm making myself write a chapter on Fungle. I find that some of...

Re: Labels that didn't keep up

In the interview with Uncle Dugs, Red Alert states that one of the reasons they quit producing was because they'd ran out of ideas and didn't really have the production nous to step up to the newer level that was required.

They were also public school boys, which I found a bit odd :)

Re: And you thought Tone Def was complicated!

Biology made a comeback in the early 1990s so it probably was connected to them. They were also behind the Desert Storm jungle parties in 1994.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0XGO3odnz0 i do generally like the track but that breakdown 4 minutes in, with the "sax"...off the scale cheesy but in a charming way i think :D (just me?) however those tunes he did with MC Storm - no excuse. that one off This is Noize is painful. shame what happen...

Re: DJ SY Too much sense

his 94 productions are quite good i think, still have some of that house influence. not so much a fan of anything after that bar the odd tune. This basically :) Move Your Body, Moments In Time were class. Him and Unknown seemed to overuse that kinda "clippety clop" drum sound a lot on their tunes w...

Re: DJ SY Too much sense

I think that you can still contact Sy on FB, it's just that he doesn't post on there any more due to moronic nu-hardcore fans and a bunch of dickish producers and MCs. Listening to that, I wonder who engineered it? I don't think Sy did much (if any) of the engineering on the Sy & Unknown tunes. Oh, ...
