Re: How To Squander Your Potential

I was a big Skelleton fan before I met Brian. I knew Steve from years back though, we are both skratch DJs. I still see him from time to time. I'll get him to join up, I'm pretty sure he's still making music, which may interest those of you who are making tunes. He made a lot of the Skelleton stuff.

Re: Dreamscape or Skelter?

I went to a few early Dreamscapes. Bloody epic they were. Never did Helter Skelter for some reason. I prefered Fanasty FM at the Astoria though.

Re: First "Jungle" tune debate

I do know that if you refer to 'Drum & Bass' as Jungle, a lot of D&B heads get all irate and exclaim "IT'S NOT JUNGLE. IT'S DRUM & BASS!"

Re: Where did you shop for your tunes back in the day?

My local shop was Vinylmania, run by Steve and Norman (Normski.) Black Market, Unity, Mash, Lucky Spin, R&D in Rayners Lane run by Danny Jon Jules who was also 'The Cat' in Red Dwarf. Bass Box just off the Edgeware Road, Slammin Vinyl in Kingston, The little shop in Soho next to the NCP that someone...

All of the E label tunes were early jungle too.

Or possibly this?

Or even this? It was floating around on white label in 91.

Re: How To Squander Your Potential

Looks like a good read. As others have mentioned, there doesnt seem to be a any decent books about the scene in the old days. I have a small tale of wasted opportunity. I'll tell it here if you dont mind? Around 93ish, my good friend Paul started to make some tunes with another friend called Steve C...

Re: Dj's that you didn't rate back in the day...

DJ Brokee (is that how you spell it?) Used to play at Sunday Roast a lot was rubbish. I saw Goldie play a couple of times, trying to mix tunes from 91 with tunes from 94, he didnt seem to be aware that turntables have pitch control. Groovrider was/is lame. Fabio was shit too. Jumping Jack frost is a...
