Re: Least mixable tunes.
I wonder whether stuff from back in the day is unmixable because a lot of it was put together by relatively unskilled dudes in their bedroom: Your average kid in '92 was more concerned / excited with banging a tune together, rather than worrying about structure, and how a DJ would use it in a set i ...

Re: Nookie's best tune?
'Theme from Daddy Armshouse' for me i think. Currently residing at number 1 on my Wants list. I also like the version of 'Here comes Bod' on the B side of 'Lost in the Junction'. Gonna Be Alright (Cloud Nine remix) just winds me up nowadays. Completely rinsed clean by the world and his mother/father...

Shaft - Roobarb + Custard.
Urban Hype - Trip To Trumptown.
Both pretty awful derivative rip offs, but i still like them. I even own Roobarb + Custard on white label. Surely its worth a mint on E Bay isn't it? Surely!!!

Re: best drug back in the day?
As i was 'only' 16 back in 1991, my drug of choice was Braintree SoapBar. But, for a night out (i.e wandering around a field somewhere, or a small local rave if you were lucky) it had to be acid. Penguins, Ohms, Strawberrys and later on when i was at Uni, Ganesha's (shudder!!!) and MicroDots. Ah, th...

Re: The biggest years for Dance Music
This is SO subjective depending on your age, but : 1986 - Old Skool Hip Hop starts getting good. 1992 - Proper old skool hardcore. Not the Belgian-type 'XL Recordings 2" stuff from 1991 but the breakbeat, sample led, made in your bedroom seminal business. 1994 - The Split. Jungle or Happy Hardcore? ...

Re: What music were you into before 'oldskool' ?
As i was born in 1975, i kind of remember my older sister listening to the Human League and all the early synth-pop from the 80's. The first tune i ever bought on 7" when i was about 11ish was Bang Zoom Lets Go Go by Real Roxanne (still got it!!!!). Never liked 'bands' as such, or even 'songs'. From...

Re: Which records do you kick yourself over for not buying?
I used to use Adrian's in Wickford quite a lot back in the day : As a naive youth i often used to buy records blind. A lot of the time i regretted it. But i did manage to pick up a white label scrawled with - Dr Octagon - Tentacle EP AKA Moons and Melody EP. But i used to pass over SO many because t...

Re: Oscars nightclub clacton on sea
Ha! Oscars. What a quality club that was. I seem to remember it was voted one of the best clubs in the country by Mixmag(!) back in '93. One of my mates used to MC there a bit back in the day : Infamous in our circles for getting switched off by Jumpin' Jack Frost before he'd even said anything!!!!!...
