Re: Carl Cox Old Skool set - May 2015

Which doesn't feel quite right either these days as a lot of his sets in the last 10 years have sounded more house than techno :)

Re: Tune in Head - Can't Remember Track!

The description made me think of this, I'm sure this isnt what youre talking about tho. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGeB8FcCQ0o Used to love these two! I haven't heard this since I was a kid. It's actually not a bad tune is it? 1986 as well...seems a little ahead of its time believe it or not! ...

Re: Q Bass - The Love EP

Interesting stuff. I went for 1 as more recent just because I knew 2 and 3 definitely weren't (the breaks aren't exactly synced well with the kicks!) and I figured you would put one newer tune in there :D Although they're all rough around the edges I quite like those tunes. A couple of years too lat...

Re: Q Bass - The Love EP

I've actually only just got around to listening to this. The idea this could be made in 89 is definitely laughable, but I wonder if the information was less to generate sales and perhaps more to try and seem groundbreaking in some way? "Look what we were doing before everyone else!"

Re: Grooverider kickdrums (FAO Eazyflow)

Tbf on the MCs point there were a hell of a lot of shit Southern ones as well. Really only Ribbz gets passmarks in my view. The bands thing, no idea. I suppose the style of music that was popular up north and in Scotland in the early 90s, e.g. pianos and vocals, lent itself more to bands than the ha...

Re: Grooverider kickdrums (FAO Eazyflow)

Apologies if it's already been mentioned, but Ratty played a few techno sets too 93-95. Yeah he played quite a bit at Tomorrows World, which was the gabber/techno night that Vibealite put on every so often. He also played at Steam/DRT North (which went on to become North) up until late 96/97. Have ...

Re: Grooverider kickdrums (FAO Eazyflow)

What about sets from 1990/91 as I understand Grooverider started off playing a lot of belgium techno around that time? Mmmm? Hmm, not sure what happened there. The post I made was along the lines of the fact that sets from that era perhaps stand out less because djs were playing all sorts of stuff ...
