Re: Colin Favor

Great shame if true. An excellent dj, his sets played a big part in me getting into techno.

Re: Do you still go record shopping?

Fully exhausted? I've been pulling £100 albums at record shops and charity shops multiple times this year. Had some killer dance bits as well which i suppose is rarer. Bootfairs have been even better with a couple of £150-£250 bits in the last few months. Yeah but we all know you are some kind of t...

Re: Power House (modern label, old skool style)

Funnily enough Rage it was upon hearing that Hex Factor tune this evening that I thought I should put a post up on here  Great track. Each release has at least one good track IMO. I think the label probably benefits from not being that prolific, so a bit of time and effort goes into each one.

Power House (modern label, old skool style)

Anyone heard of http://www.discogs.com/label/139880-Power-House-3? Run by a techno producer known as Shed, who has been pretty big in techno/house circles over the last few years. I heard the first couple of releases a few years back but only checked the discogs page out today and found out there we...

Re: Do you still go record shopping?

Never been to Flashback in Bethnal Green. I started going to Greenwich MVE properly a 2-3 years back and came out with some real finds in the bargain basement (picked http://www.discogs.com/Various-Analog-Steroids/release/43647 up for £2, but plenty of other cheap house bits), but the last 2-3 times...

Re: An answer i had from Jack Smooth..

I would guess most of the early Homegrowns had your input apart from the DJs Unknown ones and probably Smith & Brown?

Re: Everybody in the Place

I must be one of the few people who doesn't like Experience all that much. I think I've listened to it maybe 3 or 4 times. Obviously there's some stand outs on there - Out Of Space, Wind It Up, Everybody In The Place - but as a whole if it came to listening to that style of music then, and now, I'd ...

Re: Interview I Done With Alex Hazzard (Smooth But Hazzardou

Nice one mate :D Had a couple of old techno mixes of his that I caned. Always wondered where he'd got to after the mid 90s! Would have loved to get down to Eurobeat 2000 back then, looked like a great party. Quite like his new stuff, Galactic has an old techno feel and Haztech is great, got a real o...

Re: Your 3 favourite venues of all time?

All that talk of the seating at the Que Club made me realise that I hadn't even considered The Fridge in Brixton. What a club. Three things that made it stand out for me: - The big gantry running across the top of the main room, which you could clamber on to and watch the party below - The cafe, lit...

Re: Your 3 favourite venues of all time?

I remember the flyer but I didn't go the party itself, although it shows perfectly the kind of nights the Drome used to host. Reminiscing a bit more I'm reminded that there was a series of doors running along the side of the main arch which opened out on to the street. Occasionally when it got too h...

Re: Your 3 favourite venues of all time?

The Drome is number 1 by far. As Jedi says, before the refurb it was a hellish dirty sweatbox and all the better for it, with crumbling walls revealing random little rooms. Basically a licensed squat party. Raindance was of course superb but my favourite events there were the Antiworld nights. Hard ...

Re: Noom Records

I liked some of the early Noom stuff - Nexus6 springs to mind... I think at the time I preferred labels such as Tripoli Trax / Prolekult / Harthouse / Wanted / Bush / Music Man -> I guess they were more leaning towards techno?! Well, slightly anyways. Funny you mention Prolekult as a few of the ear...

Re: Noom Records

Fantastic label, one of the best for that style. There's a few techno bits on there which are well worth having as well. Fell away as the hard trance sound died off at the end of the 90s, but what a selection it had up until then. Some of my favourites: http://youtu.be/cQld5MCWK3c http://youtu.be/Xc...
