It's actually above 174bpm, standard modern DnB rate, it's just half speed beats. Why can't anybody see this as Jungle / DnB tho? It is just another style in the genre, same as liquid or jump up or techstep...

Re: First "Jungle" tune debate

See, none of you can agree on exactly what makes them different. You all have your own ideas.

Let's just say they are 2 styles of the same genre which happens to be called either one of the two names depending on preference and opinion as a compromise :D

Re: First "Jungle" tune debate

I do know that if you refer to 'Drum & Bass' as Jungle, a lot of D&B heads get all irate and exclaim "IT'S NOT JUNGLE. IT'S DRUM & BASS!" :-) Because a) They probably didn't come into contact with it until post 1996 and b) they're plonkers. Don't know what that first one is, but it ain't jungle and...

Re: First

...Jungle and DnB are in fact no different, they are one in the same... I would not say that at all. Consider - Can anybody agree on the difference between DnB and Jungle? No, they can't clearly define the two and completely agree with each other at the same time. Everybody has their own take on it...

Prodigy in Swansea 1993

Whole set. There is video with overdubbed 'Full Throttle' audio on YouTube too. Unless there were 2 gigs in 1993 in Swansea, which I doubt. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zypk0gq100za0nc Er, dunno if we are even allowed to do this any more, sorry, but I can't be arsed faffing around trying to...

That good enough for you Mr Saunders ;)

Radio Babylon - Jungle

Roll It Up - Just a breaks / stripped back hip house tune without a rap on it. Hasn't got any bass bar that single 808 hit now and then.

Re: First

Well I haven't got to my lock up yet to pull my decks and all my crates of records. But I HAVE found a box of tapes of london pirate shows up in the attic. Listened to two Kool FM sets from late 92, and I'm surprised to say about 75% of the tunes would definitely be classed as jungle. I say surpris...

For a muslim prayer, it has found itself in some odd places. I heard the original record (not the Bomb The Bass tune, the original that was sampled by BTB) in an arabic porn vid on Red Tube :D

Re: First "Jungle" tune debate

4/4 kicks, stabs, choppage, ragga, none of these make a blind bit of difference. It's all about a) using breaks and b) having heavy bass. That's all there is to it. Jungle and DnB are in fact no different, they are one in the same. I'd say that up until 1994/5 Hardcore and Jungle were not that diffe...

Mulder presents... The 80s Chart Dance Mixes

Part 3 to come some time when I get the chance to record it. I've been planning these for 18 months and almost given up, but having put all the records to use at a party recently it spurred me on to fill the holes in my collection via Discogs and get the first two out there at least... http://4.bp.b...

Re: SLRV014 & SLRV015 - Sub Love EPs - TPs are here...

Purchased both. The only Sub Love 12" I have from BITD is Always On My Mind. Really stupid as there was plenty of chance to buy them at the time in Bristol, but I had no income at the time.

Re: SLRV013 - wrong BPM?

It's possible it's sped up as a result of the DAT being played back at the wrong speed, ie at 48000khz instead of 44100khz. I had a problem with a track that I had as 48000k and needed as 44100k to upload to Juno and running it through Logic in order to do that somehow slowed it down! Doesn't matter...
