Re: Big players with humble beginnings

Jarvis Cocker was a raver.... also directed the video for LFO i believe. actually bit of digging on wikipedia and he directed : "Testone" by Sweet Exorcist (directed by Martin Wallace & Jarvis Cocker, 1990) "LFO" by LFO (directed by Jarvis Cocker, 1990) "Aftermath" by Nightmares on Wax (directed by...

Re: Blame - Feel The Energy CD problems

I have a couple of CDs with the bronzing problem. I found that I was able to rip some of them them using software called EAC (Exact Audio Copy) and that I somehow got better results using the drive on my girlfriend's laptop rather than the one on my desktop. Might be worth having a go at ripping it ...

Re: Hardcore Breaks labels - where are they now...

I personally grew bored buying and storing vinyl. All my records and my decks are at my parents house 50 miles away. I just don't have anywhere to put it all! I think people seem a bit fixated on vinyl (I know I was for a long while), but if you really want to make a go of things, surely the time to...

Phone / broadband moving issues

Don't know if anyone knows much about all this, but it's ages since I've done it. I'm moving out of my current flat a week today and moving into a new flat on the following Friday. I currently have my broadband with O2 and my line rental with BT. So far: - O2 cannot arrange anything without a phone ...

Re: Satin Storm - Lets Get Together.........................

This was mentioned in another thread recently. I can't understand the love for this track. It almost sounds like it was made as a joke. The timing and levels are all over the place and not in a good way. Hate it.

I wonder if they are referring to that demo tape that did the rounds a couple of years ago.

Re: Reccomendations for unmixed old skool compilation CDs...

I can't recall the name off the top of my head, but weren't there also some weird American CD ompilations that had strange remixes / re-edits of old skool tunes on them that never appeared anywhere else? I seem to remember someone on here saying it was done to avoid having to license them properly ...

Re: is hardcore breaks old skool now?

Imo it started in 2003 with the first Warehouse Wax tunes, unless we consider that Bassquake EP Sampler from 2000 the beginning of it all. I would say there were a few things between the Bassquake EP and Warehouse Wax that pushed people in the right direction, such as: The first B2VOS EP: http://ww...

Re: Favourite prodigy tune?

"Full Throttle". A perfect mix between the styles on "Experience" and "Music For The Jilted Generation" IMO. It has a strange unearthly feel to it that was present on a few "Jilted" tunes, but I don't think has ever really been revisited by them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrCWy2hK5yM I would gi...

Vinyl Conflict wrote:What a turd mix!.. some early tunes played too fast for me... and where has the bass gone from LFO/LFO ???

I think my nan could do a better mix

I'm amazed that Goldie thought this was good enough !
Let's hope he does a better job for the new Fabriclive...
