Re: An answer i had from Jack Smooth..

Thanks for the reply Ron. It's interesting to hear how the tunes were put together. I've sent you a pm... I think there's 2 answers to that (for the big hooks)... A lot of the time in the early days myself and pretty much everyone else would sample a single stab (note or chord), tune it and play new...

Re: An answer i had from Jack Smooth..

Some interesting posts here and lots of great info with an insight into what went on back in the day! Another question please Ron if I may - when other producers/engineers were using the studio, did you all share presets? Or did you all guard your own to keep your own tweaks on presets? Did you ever...

Recording cassettes

Hi all, I'd like to record a few old sets on cassettes to digital format. I know I could just hook up my cassette deck to my PC and hit record, but can anyone advise me on an optimal set up to help remove hiss and just try to not make the sound worse? I've got a mixer, line ins, outbourd sound card,...

Ah loved the 1990s. So good.

A few ID's - Carl Cox 1994

Hi all, Can anyone ID these tunes please? From Carl Cox 1994 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_5SrwU1Qu8 1) First tune - up to 1min 20secs ish? 2) Then mixed into another tune (I think) at 1min 38secs. Stabs sound like an a Bass X / Scott Brown / Shoop style release. Good techno I think! Cheers!

Re: What mixer (s) are you using as part of your set-up?

On a side note, can anyone recommend a top notch mixer? I've got Technics decks and would like a mixer with good EQ if possible?

I still play a lot of my vinyl and have noticed the difference in EQs between mixer. I've currently got a Pioneer DJM600 but I'm looking to replace it soon.

Cheers!

Re: Which record is the "Raviest"?

"Can you feel it" is a classic from Seduction, it just chops and changes and all seems to work seamlessly. Sounds really "ravey" to me. What do others think?

What a tune!

2. You must have made this - http://hardcorewillneverdie.com/audio/unknownjacksmooth.mp3 (apols if B2VOS have already sorted this - I've been MIA for many, many years...) - what is it? Please release it... Ratty was planning on going into the studio with Ron in 1993 and I'm convinced that this trac...

Re: An answer i had from Jack Smooth..

I was only playing Urban Hype - Trip To Trumpton today. The Trumpton remix ;-) Seems a shame they cut you out when it actually states it was engineered by you on the sleeve? Any plans to re-release The Fast Floor Album Ron? I keep waiting for it to come up on Discogs, but it never happens. I'd pay g...
