DJ Vibes - Music's So Wonderful

I was originally into rap, but then from 1998 onwards started listening to the pirates in london playing acid, From 1990 I got into the scene big-time and started mixing in 1991.  A few of us got together at that time and made a record on an Amiga computer which was pressed up under the name of Faze 4. The tune was called Metamoorphosis  and looking back, it was cheesy!  In 1992 I went to Uni in Portsmouth and started to play out a bit.  I continued to buy tunes and as the scene in the UK split and being on the south coast unfortunately got into Happy Hardcore, but also still bought Drum  & Bass.

In 1997 I started playing D&B on a pirate in London (Kronik FM).  This lasted about 6 months, when it ceased to exist.  I then basically gave up mixhng.  In 2000 I started to get back into it and war mixing music from 90-94.  I then got on Sounds 94.3 FM in London and have a regular weekly set, Sunday 10am-12pm.

I also gave a set on the Internet every other Saturday 16.00-18.00 on WorldWide FM

Tune Selection: 8/10 well varied/underground

Mixing Ability: 7/10 good but with some dodgy levels

Overall Feel: 7/10 nicely put together, could keep the dance floor interested

Total = 22

Tune Selection: 8/10 Another interesting one, definitely dance floor friendly.

Mixing Ability: 7/10 Perfectly competent

Overall Feel: 8/10 Yet another good set, varied tune selection, just not quite enough to stand out.

Total = 23

Tune Selection: 10/10 Probably my favourite tune selection wise (and no not because he plays blade!) as it's a good balance of back in the day anthems and a few tunes people just don't play these days, very similar to Carl Cox of old. Very good.

Mixing Ability: 8/10 Good solid mixing with few mistakes, the style suits the tunes they are playing nicely (Again very Carl Cox-esque.) Could have done with a few longer mixes and a bit more complicated cutting up, but not bad at all on the whole.

Overall Feel: 9/10 Tunes wise this one is top for me, but as it is a DJ Competition there are mixes with better mixing, so it can't be the winner unfortunately. Still a very good effort, the mixing is pretty much spot on and as I've said before this mix has some of my favourite tunes in it.

Total = 27

Overall Score = 72
